About game translations
The importance of good localization is often underestimated in the video game/mobile game industry. Even if a translation is accurate, it can still ruin an otherwise great game if the language style doesn't fit the content of the game and the speaking habits of native speakers. But if the localization of in-game content is well done, it can contribute a lot to the overall quality of the game. I have been interested in video games and languages since my childhood. After graduating from university I made my hobby a career and spent most of the last 10 years as a translator, translating game content from English into German and Chinese into German.
